In this modern day riff on The Scarlet Letter, Hester lives under a city bridge with her 5 fatherless kids. Hester's kids fill her life with lovingly comical moments amid the harshness of poverty, unlike the adults she comes into contact with. With a reputation of "slut" on her, their future begins to grow dim.
