The Gibson Kente Music Tribute

Produced by Soweto Theatre in collaboration with The Market Theatre, The Gibson Kente Music Tribute lights up the Market Theatre Stage this April. The late Gibson “Bra Gib” Kente, often referred to as the father of township theatre, was a theatre extraordinaire; a director, producer, playwright, music composer and choreographer. This cardinal storyteller illustrating black pain, love and aspiration in the time of Apartheid is commemorated in a musical tribute of his songs.
