Anthony Butler has written the only comprehensive political biography of Ramaphosa. Published earlier this year the book explores how Ramaphosa moved from the margins of politics in the Thabo Mbeki era to the state presidency today. He will touch on Ramaphosa’s business career, the implications of the killings at Marikana, and the pitfalls of presidential succession politics. Butler will also make some predictions about what the future may hold.
He is the author of a number of books, including The Idea of the ANC and Contemporary South Africa. He writes a regular column for Business Day.
