Inspired by Toloki, the professional mourner in Zakes Mda’s beloved Ways of Dying, celebrated choreographer Gregory Maqoma’s Cion created with 8 dancers from the Vuyani dance company also shines the spotlight on the professional mourner.

With the musical direction of Xolisile Bongwana and Nhlanhla Mahlangu and the music developed from the melody of Bolero and the voices from Isicathamiya singers and the percussive voices of dancers, Maqoma’s Cion brings us light and hope in our darkest times.
