Athol Fugard and Paula Fourie’s drama, Concerning the Life of Babyboy Kleintjies, takes place on a winter’s night in Stellenbosch. A trio of homeless men – Lappies, Riempie and Vink (Carlo Daniels, Elton Landrew, Marlon Swarts) – shelter under a bridge over the Eerste River and are joined by a young vagrant woman, Marie (Loren Laubser), who brings with her an unexpected find. Their night, spent together huddled under the bridge, rushes to a dark and challenging conclusion during which the men and Marie confront harsh truths about themselves and the society in which we live. Fugard directed with Fourie and Jason Jacobs as assistant directors.
