Join our guided tour of the iconic Keiskamma tapestries with an experienced and insightful guide of 'Umaf' evuka, nje ngenyanga' - Dying and rising as the moon does. The work spans two decades and expresses the resilience, hope, spiritual strength and creativity of a community facing poverty, political upheaval and the impact of HIV/AIDS and Covid-19. In 2000 artist and medical doctor Carol Hofmeyr began teaching a group of women in rural Eastern Cape how to stitch artworks as a way to lift themselves out of poverty. The exhibition is a retrospective of this project.
