PopCom is a comedy film which consists of ten interconnected satirical sketches depicting life in contemporary Durban. It primarily focuses on the Indian community but also features characters from the Zulu and mixed-heritage communities.
It contains a variety of comedy styles, including character comedy, farce and physical humour.
The 94-minute film features a kaleidoscope of recognizable and memorable characters, including con-artists, corrupt cops, manipulative beggars, over-zealous television presenters, eccentric vigilantes and a uniquely talented bus conductor. The sketches are linked in terms of both running characters and thematic explorations.
