The City of Johannesburg in collaboration with Soweto Theatre presents the TRIBUTE TO BABSY MLANGENI. Every year, we aim to honour our artists by staging a concert dedicated to the work they composed not only penned but sung with passion over the years. This is about our commitment to looking back and taking our hats off to iconic legends like Bra Babsy Mlangeni. This is testimony to an immense contribution to our industry and the visible - footprints that they leave behind.
The musical directors for the concert are the renowned Sipho Hotstix Mabuse and Tshepo Mngoma. We have some of the finest young vocalists that will be paying tribute to Babsy Mlangeni namely: Langa Mavuso, an acapella group called, COMPLETE, and Brian Temba.
It will be a theatrical production on stage, one that is inspired by the tunes written by Bra Babsy. An extravaganza that will take us back in time showing us how “Umqali wendlela” did it.
