TILES REUNION - Rhumbelow Durban

The Tiles Club was opened July 1964 in Durban and was the first Teen Club in South Africa to offer live local bands and entertainment for teenagers.

The club opened with the 004 from the UK, The Ivy League (No 1 UK hit ‘Tossing and Turning’), and later The Hedgehoppers Anonymous (No 1 UK hit, ‘It's Good News Week’ – check YouTube)
Tiles hosted The Dream Merchants, Billy Forrest and Billy Andrews, and almost every South African band of note including Dicky Loader and the Blue Jeans, Freedom’s Children, John Sharp and the Squires, The Etonians, The Shyannes, Dunny and the Showmen together with local amateur bands Craig Ross and the Gonks, Alan Reid and the Mods, Dawn Selby and It's a Secret just to name a few. (Dawn was only ten at the time!)
