About

From 9 to 13 December 2024, BOKAMOSO Holiday Art Programme invites your 7-15-year-olds on an artistic journey into South Africa’s fascinating mining history under theme Spectres of the Underground, which features in the latest Javett-UP's exhibition We, The Purple. Running from 09:00 to 13:00 daily, the 5-day programme will see participants dive into themed workshops that blend history, art, and adventure.
The week begins with a thrilling tour and treasure hunt in the Spectres of the Underground and Mapungubwe artifacts, sparking inspiration for a hands-on drawing session. On Day 2, kids will connect with Mapungubwe’s legacy by crafting clay sculptures inspired by ancient artifacts. Day 3 explores shadow art, using light and dark to illustrate the hidden underground world. The programme wraps up with a two-day Landscape Cyanotype Sun Print workshop, where participants will learn to magically capture the world around them, evoking hidden underground worlds or lost mining towns.
