Dlala Mapantsula Festival is back and bigger, in celebrating 30 years of democracy Alex theatre Company and Academy in partnership with Soweto Theatre, Blackroots Players, Impilo Mapantsula brings you Dlala Mapantsula Festival, supported Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, VAP Studios, Don’t Tatazel. The enthralling spectacle of dance is going to mesmerize the audience. Isipantsula is a vibrant and expressive dance form that originated in South Africa.
It is not only a dance style but also a cultural movement that played a significant role in the social and political landscape of the country. The dance evolved alongside the growing urbanization of South African townships. Isipantsula became a form of expression for young black South Africans, reflecting their daily experience and struggles during and post-apartheid.Isipantsula is a way of living and a way to resistance and express identity.
The festival has grown bigger and bigger and in relaunching it we will be providing the platform again for all the groups and now not only in Gauteng but from all the 9 provinces.
