KILLARNEY RALLYCROSSERS CELEBRATE CIRCUIT UPGRADE

Killarney’s Rallycross racers will compete for the first time on their newly revised circuit on Saturday 9 November from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

The big change is the removal of the unpopular jump – which will make the infield section even faster and more competitive, with more sideways action and potentially more overtaking.

This event is just one part of a four-way motorsport bonanza that also includes the final round of the SA Drag Nationals series, short circuit and kart racing – all for the price of one ticket!

There will be a variety of food and drinks on sale from upmarket vendors (including halaal) who know just how to re-fuel motorsport fans – but you’re also welcome to bring your cooler box and gazebo, light up your skottelbraai and make a day of it.

RALLYCROSS combines the best aspects of rallying, drifting and oval track in one exciting, high-octane spectacle, with short four or six-lap sessions on a purpose-built, part-tarmac, part dirt-track circuit in a stadium-type arena that includes a huge jump and a lot of sideways action – and the good news for spectators is that you can sit anywhere on the stands and see almost the whole circuit.

The program features classes for four-cylinder cars of up to two litres and 130kW, and six-cylinder cars of up to 168kW, while the BMWs of the E36 Cup have their own class. But the big dogs are the cars in the open category, where almost anything goes, including genuine rally cars.
