The closing film at the New York Film Festival, Almodovar’s latest, a multi-nominated and award- winning comedy-drama, opens with two single women who meet in a maternity ward, and give birth on the same day. The two form a strong bond as they confront motherhood, and face the complications and decisive changes, as their lives parallel over the first two years of their children’s lives.
Parallel Mothers premiered as the opening film of the Venice Film Festival 2021 where Penelope Cruz was awarded Best Actress.
