The title of the July Family Learning workshop, Found, Taken and Reimagined is a play on the title of Angolan artist, Edson Chagas photographic series, Found Not Taken that is currently on show in Sala, a Zeitz MOCAA Permanent Collection exhibition on the 1st floor of the Museum. Chagas work is photojournalistic in nature and explores the social conditions of contemporary cities. The Found Not Taken series belongs to a body of work called Luanda, Encyclopaedic City, and catalogues unwanted, abandoned objects found on the streets of Luanda and other cities where the artist has lived and worked, highlighting the excess of a growing consumer culture.
